Largs Regatta Week - Cumbraes Weekend 26/27 August 2017

A miserable start to the Weekend was soon forgotten, as the heavy rain moved away on Friday evening, and the annoying drizzle of early Saturday gave way to sunny conditions with a light breeze for the competitiors on Saturday.

The light breeze, shifting through 90deg at times, gave PRO Pete Wright a few headaches for the first two races, followed by a mark laying rib breaking down just after the second rib was dispatched to finish the Cruiser Class on the far side of Cumbrae, just as the course for the third race was being set up. The third race was allowed to run, but the backing shift in the wind resulted in a bit of a procession with no means of moving the marks.

Sunday provided much better wind conditions, with a fresh southerly allowing a brisk start for the fleet around the Cumbraes. The RC 35 class enjoyed close racing on a separate windward/leeward course, with a tough physical workout for all the crews.
