Here is the report on Sunday 3rd November`s racing at Largs, (photos from a previous weekend)

To conclude Fairlie Yacht Club`s Autumn Points Serieson Sunday a 35 knots, moderate gale gave the twelve yachts the hardest test of the series. Continuing the windward/leeward format, Race Officer, Pete Wright set a windward mark off Fairhaven and a leeward mark adjacent to Fairlie Quay. For the start/finish line the committee vessel, Suilven was anchored to the WNW of Fairlie Quay. Class 1 sailed three rounds in each race Class 2 sailing two rounds.
Starts were as ever, keenly contested, much to the concern of the race committee, and Suilven was frequently treated to close encounters of the broaching kind as spinnakers were carried downwind in the strong conditions.
Class 1 continued to be contested by only two yachts. Warrior, improving her performance throughout the series, won both races to take the event with a score of ten points against Jacob 2`s thirteen.
In Class 2 Cool Bandit 2 made a strong bid for the overall title with two first places, but More Misjifs early successes and consistent good results in the series gave her the Class 2 and overall Top Yacht position.
The Club has been pleased to receive very positive feedback from the competitors who have enjoyed a two centre. twelve race series, with excellent weather, to round off the 2013 season.
Fairlie Yacht Club is grateful to Largs Yacht Haven and Kip Marina for their continued sponsorship of this event, to Scottish Sailing Institute for the loan of race marks and to Largs Sailing Club for allowing the use of their clubhouse.
At the conclusion of racing on Sunday, a short prizegiving was held in Largs Sailing Club. Carolyn Elder, director of Largs Yacht Haven graciously presented prizes to Warrior, More Misjif, Cool Bandit 2 and Leomaris.
